Ideally, the successful candidate will:
- possess a post-secondary degree in land-use planning, or related discipline;
- have advanced knowledge of municipal planning, building inspections, and development services, including a sound knowledge of planning principles, practices and techniques;
- have a minimum of five years of related professional experience in a local government setting;
- a Registered Professional Planner with membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP);
- a thorough understanding and working knowledge of BC legislation and regulations (e.g. Community Charter, Local Government Act, Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act, BC Land Titles Act, etc.);
- demonstrated leadership skills, ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage hectic work demands;
- considerable experience in preparing, municipal planning documents, bylaws policies and design guidelines, and processing subdivision development applications;
- ability to provide community planning policy advice, analysis, observations and recommendations, with minimum supervision;
- writing and editing professional reports, and making presentations to Council;
- ability to establish and maintain positive, respectful, and effective working relations with a variety of internal and external entities;
- excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- hold a valid BC driver’s license;
- an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
$45.19 - $50.00 per hour, plus 16% in lieu of benefits
