Position Summary

The Business Relationship Manager will support CRH IT core business functions by providing strong leadership and planning to help drive strategic business growth. Under management direction, the Business Relationship Manager will work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. The Business Relationship Manager will work with the CIO and strategy groups on a 3-10 year business application evolution forecast, including: facilitating discussions with our business partners and understanding Business Strategic objectives, Master Plans, and ongoing business needs/issues. The Business Relationship Manager will be responsible for Annual Capital Planning for the IT Division, working with business partners on understanding projects, and the development and execution of the Project Needs Forms process.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Defines, develops and leads business application evaluation roadmaps and aligns priorities with IT strategic goals, including the implementation of operational plans and solutions that increase productivity and/or quality within a specific application.
  • Tracks and reports on PNF submissions requiring “IT Support” and manages the request from end to end (planning of the request to implementation)
  • Takes ownership of the support model during project planning, including realistic forecasts of expectations (e.g., milestones, budget and timing). 
  • Reports on Quarterly Operational Business Reviews that encompasses satisfaction scores, initiative updates, prioritization updates, project & procurement activities.
  • Gain and maintain a deep understanding of non-IT managed technology with our business partners (e.g. Builterra, event management software, and building automation system).
  • Oversee demand management from the IT intake process, assessing unplanned and new priority items that are ongoing.
  • Liaise with business partners to understand business problems.
  • Facilitate with IT leadership on capacity, value, and opportunities that arise from the IT intake submission.
  • Oversee annual continuous improvement activities including backlog management, business prioritization, business value optimization within existing business applications.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, or a related field
  • Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP) certification, and/or Certified Business Relationship Manager (CBRM) certification
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) and/or Master of Business Relationship Management (MBRM), considered an asset
  • 7 years progressive Business Relationship Management experience

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Extensive business relationship management or client management experience, preferably representing an IT organization
  • Strong knowledge of the IT industry, trends, best practices, and standards.
  • Strong understanding of technology strategy and delivery methodologies
  • Advanced understanding of emerging technologies and their impact on professional services industry and matrix organizations
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies and processes
  • Ability to work with technical teams, e.g. Architecture, Development, Product Management, etc.
  • Articulating, analyzing, and solving complex problems and applying professional judgment to make and/or influence decisions
  • Ability to listen, build rapport, and develop credibility as a strategic partner
  • Excellent relationship building and team collaboration skills
  • Contributes to building and being a part of a positive culture
  • Demonstrates ability to influence others (teams, stakeholders) in activities and direction.
