Description
We are currently recruiting two Instrumentation and Control Technicians for our operations in Grande Prairie, which includes a Class III water plant, Class IV wastewater plant, pumphouses, booster stations, lift stations and other facilities in Alberta.

This challenging position involves:

  • Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide variety of instruments, metering, analyzers, and controls as related to Water/Wastewater treatment and distribution/collection system.
  • Read, interpret, and redline P&IDs and control circuit diagram.
  • Integration of SCADA software (GE iFIX) with Control Systems.
  • Maintain PLCs, HMIs and OT network equipment including Allen-Bradley PLCs, SCADAPack, Red Lion HMI, Siemens PLCs, and other automation systems.
  • Assist with documentation and standards creation.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed, including after-hour emergencies when necessary.
  • Working alone and participating in the stand-by schedule.
  • Travelling and overnight stays at remote worksites may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

The successful candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada and, will:

  • Have a Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technologist from an accredited institution, or;
  • Journeymen Instrumentation Technician Certification;
  • Journeymen Electrician Certification is an asset.
  • Experience with Instrumentation and Electrical controls in an asset.
  • SCADA and PLC experience would be an asset.
  • Water/Wastewater treatment experience would be an asset.
  • Be self-motivated, organized and safety conscious.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Have proven mechanical aptitude, good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of best practices related to preventative maintenance systems.
  • Consistently model Aquatera’s Values and Principles; as well as incorporating continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Have a valid Class five Drivers’ license.
  • Have a high school diploma or recognized equivalent.

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to:

  • Provide a copy of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Provide a driver’s abstract satisfactory to the employer and
  • Pass a 50 lb. fitness test
  • Pass a comprehensive drug and alcohol test
