Summary

We are currently recruiting a Distribution/Collection Operator with a minimum certification of Level II in Water Distribution and Level II in Wastewater Collection for our Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection department. This job is for physically active people who get a great deal of satisfaction from doing the job right every time. Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate water and wastewater mains
  • Maintain and operate valves and manholes
  • Maintain and operate hydrants and lift stations
  • Electronic inspection of sewer services
  • Records maintenance
  • After-hours standby schedule
  • Excavator operation
  • Water meter installation and electronic meter reading
  • Water turn on/turn off
  • Guides a work group in maintenance activities
Requirements

Requirements

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess a minimum certification with AEPA or equivalent licensing body of Level II in Water Distribution and Level II in Wastewater Collection
  • There will be an expectation that the successful candidate will be in a position to obtain Level III certification in either Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection within one year of hire.
  • Must have knowledge of distribution/collection infrastructure repair and maintenance
  • Must have a minimum of three years’ experience in water distribution and wastewater collection
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, and safety conscious
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a proven mechanical aptitude
  • Must have good oral, written, and interpersonal skills, supporting our values and principles
  • Travel to remote locations, including overnight travel, may be required.

Qualifications

  • Level II Water Distribution and Level II Wastewater certification
  • High School or equivalent education
  • A Class 3 Q endorsed driver’s license
  • Possession of Confined Space Entry and Standard First Aid certificates

The following will be required as conditions of employment:

  • Provision of a valid Canadian driver’s license
  • Provision of a criminal records check satisfactory to the employer
  • Provision of a current driver’s abstract satisfactory to the employer
  • Successful completion of a 50 lb. physical fitness test
  • Completion of a comprehensive drug and alcohol test with results satisfactory to the employer
