Description
Saanich Street Operations is seeking an Operations Worker II who will be responsible for completing a variety of road maintenance and construction tasks. The Operations Worker II will perform work that requires skills and abilities in a wide variety of civil works related to aboveground assets in road maintenance and construction. Duties include a combination of tasks pertinent to installation, repair, upgrade and control of roads which require some special training or experience and will involve directing others in the work required.

Requirements

Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; two years’ experience in Roads Construction and/or Maintenance or above ground assets; a valid B.C. Class 3 Driver’s Licence with an air brake endorsement; Occupational First Aid Level I Certificate; a valid Traffic Control Certificate; Municipal Pavement Maintenance Certification or equivalent; and sufficient health, physical conditioning, strength, stamina and coordination to permit performance of heavy manual work in all weather conditions. 

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (40 hours per week).

As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted.

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $37.95 per hour and an excellent benefits package. Job description and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
