About You / What We Are Looking For

 

We are currently seeking two RFT and two TFT Trades 2 – Carpenters to start their municipal career with our Parks, Recreation, Culture and Facilities department.  You will apply your versatile, journeyman level skills in a wide range of applications in an outdoor park setting in all types of weather. Working with a high degree of independence, your responsibilities will include performing skilled carpentry work in the construction, renovation, repair and maintenance of Parks infrastructure, furnishings and playground equipment.  You will also be required to perform formwork, concrete finishing, drainage and retaining wall installation, various hardscape tasks, light framing and timber work, and act as a Crew Lead and/or Site Coordinator as required.  Equipment operating experience with a mini excavator, skid steer, front end loader and either a class 3 or heavy hauler designation is preferred.

 

Qualifications

 

  • A B.C. Certificate of Qualification (Carpenter) is required.
  • You will have completed tenth school grade education supplemented by additional technical courses related to the work. 
  • You will also have completed a recognized apprenticeship in the trade and sound relevant journeyman experience.
  • You will ideally possess prior experience supervising others and managing small to medium projects. 
  • A Driver’s License for the Province of BC is required (with satisfactory driving record)
  • As well as a Police Information Check (with no adverse reports).

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $45.28. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
