Job Summary

As a member of our team, you will work in a collaborative environment on a variety of projects using the PeopleSoft suite of technologies including PeopleTools Application Designer, BI Publisher, Integration Broker, SQR, COBOL and more. You will also work with business system analysts and technical infrastructure teams to create new software solutions, integrate applications using APIs and other technologies, address application issues, and perform application maintenance. 

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop technical solutions to deliver business functionality.
  • Design, construct, build and develop custom Application Engine processes to validate and process data for enrichment and reporting using People Tools 8.5x.
  • Design, develop and build custom pages and components for data capture and processing using People Tools
  • Test and troubleshoot issues during technical development.
  • Complete Technical documentation of design and development application
  • Provide assistance when needed to Design and Develop User Acceptance Test Scripts.

This position is eligible for Niagara Region's Hybrid Working Model. The successful applicant must maintain the ability to work onsite at Niagara Region Headquarters (1815 Sir Isaac Brock Way, Thorold, ON) at least 50% of the time.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related field of study.
• Formal training in PeopleSoft tools considered an asset.

Knowledge

The successful applicant must have demonstrated experience and proficiency in the following:

  • In-depth proficiency with PeopleTools online objects e.g. PeopleCode, Application Engine Process Development & Customization, Pages/Components, Component Interface, Workflow, Queries, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of SQL Language with hands on experience in developing complex queries to extract data from multiple tables.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; very good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of technical and process documentation standards as used in software development processes in municipal environment.
  • Work collaboratively and independently on complex application development tasks
  • Develop, implement and maintain web and batch applications, reports, queries and application integrations
  • Lead projects, forecast required time and resources, provide status updates, prioritize completion of tasks, and follow established standards and methodology
  • Work with clients and business systems analysts to design solutions that meet the needs of the clients both internal and as part of shared services
  • Coordinate and apply vendor provided software patches and maintenance
  • Provide production problem analysis and resolution, job scheduling, monitoring, tuning, and end-user support
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the business and administrative processes
  • Provide training, guidance, and assistance to staff to accomplish goals
