Description
The District of Saanich is looking for 2 energetic, innovative, and professional Public Works Supervisors to join the Storm and Wastewater Section. The Supervisors will be responsible for assisting the manager in carrying out maintenance programs, safety and supervisory duties related to the day-to-day operations of this section. The ideal candidates will have sound technical knowledge of storm and wastewater operations and extensive experience in the maintenance of municipal drainage systems, including familiarity with tools, equipment and materials used. A safety conscious mindset, a desire for continuous improvement and the ability to direct day-to-day operations are essential.

Requirements

Requirements include: Grade 12 or equivalent; a two year diploma in related field; Level III EOCP Certification in Wastewater Collection Systems or demonstrated equivalent knowledge; five years progressive experience working with a government agency or private contractor doing work directly related to storm and wastewater; extensive experience and completion of courses/training related to pump mechanics, hydraulics, wastewater collection system maintenance and SCADA system operation and maintenance; considerable knowledge of environmental protocols and best practices related to the maintenance, stewardship and restoration of creeks and waterways, including environmental protection and spill response; experience in project management including planning, budgeting, cost estimating and scheduling; minimum of one year supervisory experience in a related operational area; and a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence along with a personal vehicle available for use as and when required. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidates will be required to work Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (40 hours per week).  

As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted.

Salary & Benefits
