Description
Provides support to the Facilities and Property Management major projects team by coordinating project management functions and construction administration documents pertaining to a broad range of facilities-based major capital construction projects. This position will primarily be tasked with providing construction administrative support to major capital projects during project construction, performing project and contract administration work up to and including final hand-off to operations staff as assigned by the Manager of Facilities and Planning Initiatives. 

Requirements

This position requires an individual who has a minimum of a 3 year Engineering Technology diploma and certified by the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) as a C.E.T. or a 3 year Architectural Technology diploma and Certification under Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario (AATO) as a M.A.A.T.O. LEED designation would be an asset.  

A minimum of 5 years experience in the discipline of construction administration of major capital projects. Project Management, Construction Management/Administration certificates/courses would be considered an asset.   Requires knowledge of relevant legislation including:  the Ontario Building Code, Construction Act, Municipal Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Health Protection Act, standard CCDC construction documents, standard consulting contracts, applicable laws and regulations, and construction contract administration.   

Work experience must include extensive contract administration experience in major capital projects in a municipal setting and a demonstrated knowledge of construction methods, equipment and technologies related to design and construction, including reading and interpreting civil site plans, landscape, architectural, structural, mechanical & electrical drawings and associated specifications. Proven competence and technical knowledge of various trades and systems involved with construction and building technologies and demonstrated experience of sustainable practices and technologies including knowledge of LEED certification process and Net Zero building practices. Ability to deal effectively with consultants and contractors whilst exercising excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.  

Requires an advanced level of office related computer skills; word processing, spreadsheets, project management, report writing and presentation software in addition to a good understanding of accounting and database software. Proficiency in the use of general computer software, Excel and Word, GIS platforms, etc.). web based project management platforms, SharePoint, SAP and AutoCAD. Must be able to read, understand and clearly communicate written and oral instructions in English.  

Must have demonstrated acumen dealing with sensitive or confidential matters. Must have the ability to develop efficient information and data management processes to support the department functions. Must have well developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). Must have strong organization and time management skills, the ability to manage competing priorities and the ability to coordinate a number of tasks at one time. Must have proven ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision. Must be a team player with demonstrated commitment to customer and community service.  

Must possess a valid Ontario Class G Drivers License in good standing and access to a reliable vehicle for business purposes.  

Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required. 

Salary & Benefits

$103,138.00-$112,737.00
