Description
Saanich Commonwealth Place is recruiting for a permanent full-time Facility Technician for our world-class aquatic facility and community recreation centre. Our Facility Technicians are responsible for maintaining swimming pool filtering plants, heating plants, pumps, motors, and air handling systems. They engage in regular preventative maintenance programs and development, review operational procedures and labelling for equipment and systems. In addition to operating and repairing computerized building management systems they perform minor building repairs, assist in overseeing contract services in the effort to provide minimal or no interruption to facility service and programs.

Varying shifts including evenings, weekends and nights (Up to 37.5 hours per week)

Requirements

Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; Pool Operators I and II certifications; possession of a Fifth Class Boiler Endorsement Power Engineering Certificate; 3.5 years experience in physical plant maintenance, recreation/commercial buildings; WHIMIS certification valid within one year; sufficient health, physical conditioning, strength, stamina, and coordination to permit performance of work in all types of adverse conditions; possession of a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $40.73 per hour plus an excellent benefits package.
