Primary Responsibilities

  • Transform datasets as required for analysis and reporting.
  • Perform statistical analysis of datasets using off-the-shelf software and custom code.
  • Perform quality assurance to ensure the accuracy of data analysis.
  • Working with the Database Administrator and Geoinformatics Specialist, ensure the integrity of all internal data sources.
  • Source, maintain and serve as custodian for additional datasets as required to augment analysis and reporting. 
  • Produce written summaries, tables, charts and graphs for consumption by staff and Municipal Council.
  • Run standardized reports, publish data, identify and interpret trends and patterns in reports.
  • Working with the Manager of IT, propose and implement changes to the Municipal Open Data Strategy and related policies as required.
  • Develop and maintain processes required for publishing of municipal open data as identified by the strategy.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that Municipal open data sources are meeting identified needs. 

 

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Data Analytics or equivalent.
  • 2 or more years of professional experience in a related role.
  • Professional experience and training with data analytics software, such as Power BI, Tableau, SAS, or similar. 
  • Professional experience or training with Statistics Canada datasets. 
  • Experience in a municipal government setting is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of statistical methods, SQL and databases. 
  • Microsoft SQL Server experience and experience working with spatial datasets are considered assets.
  • Knowledge of coding languages such as Python or R is considered an asset. 
  • Strong organizational, analytical, research, troubleshooting, decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office applications
Salary & Benefits

This is a full-time unionized position that is governed in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Municipality of the County of Kings and CUPE, Local 2618-01. Compensation includes a competitive salary and a benefits plan - including a pension plan (8% employer & 8% employee match)! Salary will be Level 7 ($33.46/hr - $39.91/hr) of the Municipal Pay Band. Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm (35 hours per week).
