The City of Brooks requires one (1) Pool Shift Supervisor I, II, or III, in the Recreation Services Department, specifically within the Aquatics Division. The position will be based out of the JBS Canada Centre in the EID Aquatics Centre. 

 

Requirements

Job Details & Responsibilities:

 

As the Pool Shift Supervisor I, II, or III, you will primarily be responsible for pool programming, instruction, pool operations, maintenance, custodial and trouble-shooting techniques related to Aquatics.   You will also be involved in supervising and participating fully as a Lifeguard and instructing Red Cross and Life Saving Courses along with specialized program instruction.  You will also assist the Aquatic Supervisor in the development and implementation of Aquatic programming.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Level I
    1. Completion of High School Diploma;
    2. Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience;
    3. National Lifeguard Certificate;
    4. National Lifesaving Instructor Certificate;
    5. Water Safety Instructor Certificate;
    6. Pool Operator Level 1 Certificate;
    7. SCBA training and certification;
    8. Previous supervisory experience or completion of related courses an asset;
    9. Standard First Aid Certificate; and
    10. WHMIS Certification is an asset.

 

  • Level II
    1. Completion of a High School Diploma;
    2. Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of related experience;
    3. Must have one (1) of the following instructor certification:
    a) National Lifeguard Instructor;
    b) First Aid Instructor; or
    c) Water Safety Instructor Trainer.
    4. Advanced Pool Operator Certificate; and
    5. Standard First Aid Certificate.

 

  • Level III
    1. Completion of a High School Diploma;
    2. Minimum of four (4) years of related experience;
    3. Lifesaving Instructor / Bronze Examiner;
    4. Must have all of the following instructor certifications:
    a) National Lifeguard Instructor;
    b) Water Safety Instructor Trainer; and
    c) First Aid Instructor Certificate;
    5. Advanced Pool Operator Certificate;
    6. SCBA training and certification; and
    7. Supervisory Certification or completion of related supervisory courses required.
Salary & Benefits

Compensation & Benefits:

 

  • The City of Brooks offers a competitive salary and benefits package with this position falling within the scope of the Collective Agreement between the City of Brooks and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1032.
  • The 2024 salary range for this position is for: 
    • Level I: $25.72 to $28.12 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience;
    • Level II: $28.12 to $30.79 per hour, depending on qualification and experience;
    • Level III: $ 30.79 to $ 33.73 per hour, depending on qualification and experience.

 

This is a full-time position with shift, weekend, and overtime hours of work. The Collective Agreement, including wages, can be found online at www.brooks.ca.

 

Additionally, you will receive a free family membership to the JBS Canada Centre during your term of employment.
