Position Summary

**Note this is a temporary position covering full-time hours for up to 3 years **

The Digital Content Analyst assists the City in delivering accessible, high quality, and relevant web content to the audiences of the City’s various digital platforms. They ensure the City’s digital content and user interface design elements work together to deliver positive user experiences.

The primary responsibilities for the Digital Content Analyst are the technical preparation and conversion of content, accessibility reviews and remediation, and publishing content (including some content writing) on behalf of staff across the organization. Additionally, using a variety of tools, this role is pivotal in finding opportunities to enhance the user experience by evaluating user-centered designs and processes, and by improving content through data analysis and UI/UX best practices.

The Digital Content Analyst actively works with all internal departments on developing and managing digital content and implementing needed UI/UX improvements. They will also engage with the public to conduct user testing as needed.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Liaise with staff across the organization to develop and refine digital content that reflects our user-centered digital experience goals, and then publish, maintain, and decommission content on various digital platforms as needed (web, mobile, public engagement, social, etc.)

Drive improved digital experiences by:
- Using UI/UX principles to contribute to refining digital contact, information architecture, navigation, and site design
- Gathering and analyzing data and statistics on our content and our digital platforms, and about how users are accessing them
- Continuously look for ways to improve digital content quality and content management efficiencies by researching, developing, and following industry best practices

Ensure digital content meets usability and accessibility requirements and best practices through coaching and training content contributors and reviewing, and where necessary, remediating digital content for publication online

Requirements

Qualifications, Competencies

Degree/diploma in UI/UX, digital content management, information management, digital accessibility, or a related field

1 to 3 years’ experience related to digital content and information management with a user-centered focus

Experience working with digital content that is aimed for public consumption and benefit, including online information and communications, self-help functions, public engagement, marketing, applications and forms, and citizen portals

Experience assessing, developing, and remediating content to legislated accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0 AA/AAA)

Experience configuring and interpreting web analytics (Google analytics, SiteImprove)

Experience with supporting content management systems and online engagement platforms

Skills, Abilities, Work Demands

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong customer service skills, including the ability to establish good working relationships with a variety of internal and external clients and the public

Demonstrate tact and discretion when dealing with confidential information

Skill in information architecture and website analytics to drive improvements in digital experiences

Under the guidance of senior development staff, assist with implementation of various UI elements (search, navigation, information architecture) using a mix of CSS, JavaScript, HTML

Ability to prioritize work effectively to meet deadlines

Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail

Knowledge of related policies, procedures, legislation, and initiatives

Demonstrate integrity; adhere to professional standards, regulations and corporate policies and procedures (e.g. Code of Conduct)

Ability to provide operational support and help with troubleshooting (occasionally)

Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check
