About You / What We Are Looking For

The City of Coquitlam is currently seeking enthusiastic applicants who want to share their passion for skating to join our casual Ice Skate Instructor team. The successful candidates will have excellent communication and people skills; be team players; be able to effectively lead, participate and instruct skating program participants; engage and maintain working relationships with program participants, volunteers, staff and the general public; and plan creative lesson plans for a variety of skating levels using progressions and complete report cards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Emergency First Aid and CPR ‘C’ certification
  • At least 16 years’ old
  • Strong skating background

We accept first aid certifications issued by the following training providers:

  • Canadian Ski Patrol
  • Heart & Stroke
  • WorkSafe BC
  • Lifesaving Society
  • St John’s Ambulance
  • Red Cross   

In order to meet the needs of our community, candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High Five Certifications
  • Recreation Instructor Skating Course
  • NCCP Certifications
  • Experience working with children is an asset

What We Offer:

The rate of pay for this position varies, depending on experience/specialty. The range of pay is $22.38 to $27.98 per hour plus 4% in lieu of benefits.
