About You / What We Are Looking For

The City of Coquitlam is looking for enthusiastic and outgoing Program Attendants to share their passion for skating through public sessions and learn to skate lessons.  This position will work on ice as well as in the skate shop. As a Program Attendant, you will be responsible for general skate shop duties, customer service, crowd control and skate patrol.  You will be directing on-ice traffic flow and conducting organized activities while ensuring a fun and safe environment for all patrons during public skate sessions.  We are seeking candidates who have great people skills and the ability to work efficiently and thrive in a fast-paced service environment!

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have a current Standard or Emergency First Aid and CPR ‘C’ certification as well as a strong skating background. Candidates must also have experience dealing with the public.

We accept first aid certifications issued by the following training providers:

  • Canadian Ski Patrol
  • Heart & Stroke
  • WorkSafe BC
  • Lifesaving Society
  • St John’s Ambulance
  • Red Cross   

In order to meet the needs of our community, candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

Some assets for the position are the following:

  • A High Five Certification
  • Experience sharpening skates and assisting others with fitting skates/helmets
  • Previous work experience in a related role involving skate shop duties, skate patrol or providing on-ice assistance
  • Experience with a recreation registration software such as PerfectMind

What We Offer:

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $23.55 (2024 rates) + 12% in lieu. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
