Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Information Services, this position is primarily responsible for the administration and maintenance of the City’s enterprise applications as well as overseeing the support team. The incumbent collaborates with stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify the organization’s business needs, offering effective solutions with a commitment to upholding superior customer service standards. Responsibilities also include strategic planning, analysis, reporting, and implementation of efficient technology solutions with a focus on sustaining high levels of customer satisfaction and exemplary service delivery.
Duties Include:
- Manages the Information Services’ support staff at the RCMP and City facilities, determines priorities, tasks and work schedules.
- Assists with the maintenance, installation, development, review and provision of enterprise software and applications through review, analysis, collaboration with the Administrator, Information Systems and applicable staff.
- Responsible for responding to Information technology emergencies, providing technical support and training to users, researching and keeping current on information technology trends.
- Manages a variety of technical projects using project management proper methodologies, tools, and techniques.
- Researches, documents, analyzes, recommends, and develops where practical, software products and applications.
- Directs and Manages contractors and third-party businesses as required to support the provision of services.
- Assists the Administrator, Information Systems in ensuring that the digital systems, interfaces, and programs are performing to identified standards. This position is also responsible for after hour service patches, system upgrades, and network troubleshooting and repair.
- Prepares and submits annual operating and maintenance budgets to the Manager, Information Services for review, and ensures that approved budgets are properly administered and controlled.
- Provides recommendations as to the structure, and possible direction of the department to the Manager, Information Services.
- Ensures corporate compliance with Information Services policies and standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- All persons employed by the City of Vernon will be required to assist the City in providing emergency services. Duties assigned during an emergency may differ from regular duties.
Required Education And Experience:
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary 2 year diploma program in information technology. A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Extensive experience working independently with network infrastructure emergencies in critical situations.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an advanced Enterprise environment, Enterprise SQL, corporate mail systems and internet websites.
- Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
- Demonstrated analytical knowledge of municipal enterprise software programs, such as the Microsoft suite of Enterprise products.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 infrastructure design.
- Strong project management abilities.
- Extensive hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
- Excels under pressure in information services emergencies.
- Must acquire and maintain a current Microsoft certification within two years of product release.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to teamwork and customer service.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Education And Experience:
- Microsoft 365 experience
- Experience working with Enterprise ERP and Municipal land applications.
