Position Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor, Parking Control Enforcement, you will be responsible for responding to all in-person or telephone complaints with the Parking Enforcement Section and initiating a patrol response to the complaints by the Parking Enforcement Officers. You will also be responsible for administrative duties associated with the processing of parking penalty notices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide front line customer service response to all parking related complaints and inquiries received by the City in-person, by email and by phone
  • Initiate parking enforcement response to parking complaints through communication with Parking Enforcement Officers and track and monitor complaint and enforcement response to resolution
  • Oversee the Temporary Parking Permits process including receiving the application, entering the information into the database, requesting proof of address, and issue the permit as required
  • Coordinate on-street parking exemptions between Public Works Operations and Parking Enforcement Officers
  • Process all cheque payments of parking Penalty Notices using parking control software
  • Monitor Private Security company agreements to ensure that agreements and certificates of insurance are approved and current
  • Liaise with private security companies regarding parking penalty notices issued
  • Daily data entry of all manually written parking penalty notices submitted by private security companies
  • Provide back-up for By-law and Licensing Division reception dealing with all counter inquiries and directing them appropriately
  • Administrative duties as required including maintenance of all parking control files and documentation
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in a related office environment

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Accurate data entry and processing skills and calculating and reconciling numbers
  • Proven ability to deal effectively with tact, courtesy, discretion and diplomacy with all levels of staff and the public
  • Ability to retain confidentiality and security of sensitive information and use discretion at all times
  • Strong customer service focus and a team focus with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and effectively handle difficult customer situations
