Job Summary

Payroll, Pensions & Benefits Services manages a $1.6B payroll system and is responsible for the delivery of pay, time entry, pension and benefit services, and reimbursements to approximately 24,000 City, Police and Library employees.  

You are responsible for providing technical expertise to the Payroll staff to implement and test system changes within SAP, run annual and special programs, and implement entitlement and pay rate changes resulting from such things as collective agreement settlements, grievances, and re-classifications. 

You are also responsible to interface between the pay production and the financial accounting of pay results. This includes the coordination of pay close activities, monitoring and reconciliation of certain accounts, ensuring accuracy of third party payments, and contributing to year end reporting requirements.

Requirements

Education & Experience

Completion of 3 year university degree in financial management or a related field

Minimum of 3 years of related experience in a payroll, accounting or finance environment, including at least 2 years in a computerized payroll function

Certifications and Licenses

Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) with National Payroll Institute or related certification is desirable
