Position Summary

 

The Strategic Communications division is accepting applications for a Digital Communications Advisor to join the team. Under the supervision of the Manager, Strategic Communications, this position is responsible for Milton’s digital communications portfolio as well as researching, planning, developing and implementing digital communications strategies for Town of Milton initiatives, programs and services. The focus of this role is to review the Town’s digital communications presence and make recommendations to further establish the Town’s brand, while supporting the execution of the Town’s digital communications.

 

This position requires expertise in digital communications (digital content marketing, advertising, and social media), strategic communications planning, market research, and reporting. This role also requires the ability to provide strategic advice and counsel to staff and management across the corporation.  

 

 

Major Job Responsibilities

 

Digital Communications and Marketing Strategy and Planning

  • Working with the Communications Advisor’s and the Communications Assistant to develop integrated digital communications and marketing strategies from conception to completion (research, analysis, planning, execution, evaluation) for initiatives, programs and events
  • Supports the implementation of the Town’s social media strategy, and analyzes trends for continuous improvement of the strategy
  • Reviews and assesses the feasibility of business cases for any new divisional social media or digital marketing platform/tool
  • Creates the implementation plan for any new social media or digital marketing platform
  • Ongoing monitoring, development and implementation of digital communications policies, including managing vendor relationships

 

Digital Communications Implementation and Execution

  • Ensures a data-driven, audience-focused, customer-centric approach to digital communications
  • Supports the implementation of marketing plans created for business areas, programs or initiatives
  • Creates engaging assets and content for social media, and establish a brand voice for corporate channels
  • Schedules and coordinates social media posts and monitors the Town’s social media and digital communications tools
  • In conjunction with other Strategic Communications team members, coordinate and maintain photo library and digital assets
  • Using real-time data, identifies opportunities for optimal engagement on digital communications (social media, newsletters)
  • Coordinates marketing campaigns, digital advertising, and newsletters
  • Administers paid digital advertising invoices and renewals
  • Responsible for video content curation and production for the Town’s digital communications and marketing initiatives
  • Provides expertise on content and user experience, social media, online engagement, CASL compliance, newsletters/e-mail marketing, and software integration.

 

Measurement and Reporting

  • Identifies and establishes KPIs to measure performance of the corporate digital channels and platforms
  • Analyzes and interprets data to inform strategy development, measure outcomes, identify trends and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Using analytics tools provides regular reporting to business areas on divisional platforms or strategies, and makes recommendations for improvement
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related discipline
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in digital communications, digital marketing, public relations or a related industry
  • Experience in strategic digital communications planning and marketing with a demonstrated ability to evaluate success
  • Advanced proficiency in all aspects of digital communications, social media, advertising, content marketing, and market research
  • Experience in public sector digital communications is preferred
  • Post-secondary certificate in Digital Marketing, Public Relations, Marketing or equivalent is preferred

 

 

Additional Job Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite applications, with a focus on video creation, animation, production and editing
  • Proficient with email marketing platforms and Customer Relations Management Software
  • Strong negotiation, presentation and partnership development skills
  • Superior written/verbal communication skills, and excellent attention to detail
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving and issues management
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Press Style, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) regulations and Canadian Anti-spam legislation requirements
Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: $77,249 - $96,561 (35-hours)
