The Opportunities:
We have exciting opportunities for a highly motivated Project Engineer and a Development Engineer to join the Community Development & Engineering team.
The Project Engineer is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of projects from inception to completion. The duties of the Project Engineer include:
- Managing the delivery of capital and operating projects including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, cost tracking, stakeholder and public engagement, procurement, contract administration, project reporting and documentation, design and specification development, and construction oversight;
- Supporting procurement processes including RFP development, submission evaluations, vendor selection, and contract negotiations;
- Coordinating and reviewing designs for underground utilities, roads, landscaping, third-party utilities, and other types of infrastructure;
- Collaborating with project stakeholders for scope development, design and specification reviews, construction inspections, infrastructure commissioning and operationalization, and project close-out processes;
- Participating in the development and implementation of public and stakeholder engagement strategies;
- Overseeing construction and monitoring for potential project risks including safety, environmental, legal, and financial;
- Supporting capital planning, business case development, and cost estimation; and
- Other engineering assignments as required.
The Development Engineer is primarily responsible for coordinating the engineering elements of land development including master planning, land use planning and servicing, and planning applications. As workloads and priorities change, this position will also lead other types of projects including design, construction, reports, and studies. The duties of the Development Engineer include:
- Assessing and analyzing the engineering considerations for planning applications including Area Structure Plans (ASPs), Neighbourhood Area Structure Plans (NASPs), subdivisions, and development permits;
- Interpreting and incorporating policy, technical analysis, and best practices into planning applications, designs, and studies;
- Working with applicants to find engineering solutions to development challenges;
- Coordinating growth-related infrastructure studies (e.g.: master plans, growth strategy);
- Manage the delivery of capital and operating projects including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, cost tracking, stakeholder and public engagement, procurement, contract administration, project reporting and documentation, design and specification development, and construction oversight; and
- Other engineering assignments as required.
Candidates who progress to final stages of the recruitment process will be required to provide proof of education and designation along with a favorable criminal record check and possibly a driver’s abstract depending on the position.

What You Bring:
- Degree in engineering with 3 or more years related work experience representing continuous learning;
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Canada would be considered an asset;

- Strong attention to detail and time management.
