Description
Saanich Community Services Division is seeking a part-time Arts and Culture Programmer to assist in the development, coordination and delivery of community arts and public art programs and initiatives.  

As the Programmer 1 for Arts and Culture, you will work in a dynamic arts and community environment and must excel at multitasking and meeting deadlines. Other required attributes include being creative, detail-oriented, with experience working with artists, community groups, and a considerable understanding and knowledge of the diverse arts and cultural community, cultural programs, their purposes, and objectives.

You will be responsible for planning and coordinating a range of arts and culture activities, including artist and exhibition calls and scheduling; community arts programs and events; marketing and communications with artists, community groups and the public. You will also schedule, provide orientation and support to community artists, staff and volunteers as required.

Requirements

Requirements include a two-year post-secondary diploma in recreation, leisure, or related field (arts administration, cultural management, fine arts); two years of experience in related arts and culture programming; satisfactory police information check and a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence.  The successful candidate will be required to work 17.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some weekends and evenings as required. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preference is given to those who have a demonstrated history of experience in community-based arts programs.

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $39.35 per hour and an excellent benefits package.
