Under the supervision and direction of the Director of Planning, you will ensure that design and materials used during the construction, renovation, and alteration of buildings within the Community are compliant with the provisions set out in the BC Building Code, specifically Part 9, BC Plumbing Code, Osoyoos’ Zoning Bylaw, other municipal bylaws, policies, and procedures.
The Town is currently experiencing unprecedented growth. The building inspector position allows you to further your skills and experience in plan checking and inspections for multi-family dwellings, commercial buildings, and mixed-use developments.

You will have completed grade 12 and possess a Diploma in Building Technology from a recognized technical institute, or you will have experience at the journeyman level in one of the building trades. You will also have BOABC Level Three (3) Certification OR you will have passed the BOABC Level Three (3) examination with certification pending upon completion of the (4) years’ work experience requirement. A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license, a clean driving record, and Police Information Check are required.
This position can be either part-time or full-time (35 hours a week for the right candidate. The hourly rate is $47.81 per hour, plus an attractive benefits package (full-time employment).
