The Surrey Nature Centre (operated by the City of Surrey’s Urban Forestry section) offers nature-based programs and events for schools and the public with the goal of increasing awareness, appreciation, and stewardship of Surrey’s urban forest. This auxiliary position has varying scheduling needs and will include weekdays, weekends, and evening shifts; 28-hour predicted work week.

Responsibilities
As the Interpreter/Program Leader at the Surrey Nature Centre you will:
- Deliver a wide range of programs including nature walks (virtual and in-person), school programs (virtual and in-person), nature story times, school break day camps (spring and summer), and pop-up interpretation.
- Act as a facility attendant during facility bookings.
- Maintain program areas and equipment, including assisting with the Nature Interpretation space.
- Orient visitors to the facility and surrounding park.
- Support various environmental education initiatives.
Successful candidates will have:
- Completed Grade 12, supplemented by one year of related work experience, or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience.
- A creative and enthusiastic approach to their work and enjoy the chance to be a part of a strong team.
- A positive attitude.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Current Occupational First Aid (or acceptable equivalent).
- High 5 certification (or willing to obtain).
- BC Driver’s License with safe driving history.
- Knowledge of local flora and fauna.
