Saanich is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Technician to join our Community Planning team. The successful candidate will be a professional who is innovative and self-motivated, with a focus on customer service. Skill set will include a solid knowledge of planning principles, excellent research and complex analysis skills, proficiency with GIS and graphic programs and effective written and verbal communication skills. The individual will be team focused, working with a diverse group of professionals to implement our Official Community Plan.
The successful candidate will be called upon to undertake a wide variety of municipal planning work including undertaking research and analysis in support of the development of Centre, Corridor and Village Plans and other community planning initiatives; completing complex GIS mapping and analysis; supporting community engagement processes; preparing graphics and other visual communication materials; writing planning reports and correspondence and providing customer service.
Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a field related to planning such as geography, architecture, civil engineering, landscape architecture, or graphic arts; four years of planning/GIS experience preferably in a municipal planning context, proficiency in GIS and statistical analysis and experience with AutoCad and graphic design programs. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
