As a leader in corporate sustainability, the Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring innovative and cost-effective waste diversion and strategies that meet corporate sustainability goals. This includes reducing corporate greenhouse gas emissions through continuous improvements and identifying opportunities to optimize solid waste operations.
The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge in combination of experience surrounding equipment and practices used in refuse/organics collection. They will be committed to organizational excellence, knowledge development and have demonstrated ability to lead and supervise employees in a unionized environment. They will possess strong interpersonal, written and verbal skills including public speaking and presentation skills. They will have knowledge of occupational health and safety standards and practices, preferably in the public sector.
As a qualified candidate you will have a Diploma in Business Administration or related discipline; four years of progressive experience in managing solid waste service operations; a valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s Licence. Completion of Project Management Professional certification would be considered an asset. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
