The Manager Supply Chain leads a team of professions in purchasing, accounts payable and stores for the City of Medicine Hat. The Manager is responsible for establishing policies and processes for consistency across our multi-faceted organization within the municipal context.

Our ideal candidate

  • You have extensive knowledge, understanding and application of tendering and contract law, corporate supply chain related policies and procedures, and the principles and practices of public purchasing.
  • You have demonstrated experience leading complex procurement initiatives.
  • You have high standard of ethics, professional conduct, integrity, discretion, and can handle the pressure of public scrutiny.
  • You are proficient working within and leveraging enterprise resource planning systems to achieve efficient and effective supply chain related business processes and facilitate change management with stakeholders.
  • You have a proven record in leading and supporting a team of professionals.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of bachelor's degree in Business or discipline relevant to Supply Chain Management from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in a senior supply chain role, including four (4) years demonstrated management experience.
  • Valid Supply Chain Management professional (SCMP) and/or Certified Public Procurement Officer and/or National Institute of Government Procurement (NIGP) and ability to maintain certification/designations are required.
  • An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.

The City of Medicine Hat Supply Chain team has recently completed an enhancement project to the Procure-To-Pay process with the implementation of contracts and requisitions modules in the ERP system. This has streamlined processing of requisitions, contracts, purchase orders, and payments. An upcoming initiative will enable digital invoice registration through Artificial Intelligence to further improve our processes. THAT'S INNOVATION, MEDICINE HAT STYLE!
