Description
The District of Saanich is seeking an experienced operational Manager to lead its Fleet Service Section. Fleet is responsible for all aspects of fleet services and the operation of the Municipal Fleet Centre.  The successful candidate will manage a multi-trade workforce engaged in maintenance and repair of municipal assets, repair services and will participate in the procurement of municipal assets.  

As a leader in corporate sustainability, the Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring innovative and cost-effective fleet operation strategies that meet corporate sustainability goals. This includes reducing corporate greenhouse gas emissions an advanced sustainable fleet maintenance management system and industry best practice.  

The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of principles, methods, equipment and tools of the automotive mechanical trade, particularly as related to the overhaul and repair of a mixed municipal fleet.

They will have knowledge of occupational health and safety standards and practices, preferably in the public sector.

As a qualified candidate you will have a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; eligibility for registration with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC) or with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC); possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain the British Columbia Inspection Facility Operator Certification and Vehicle Inspection Facility Designation Permit; four years of progressive experience in managing a fleet maintenance facility/programs; possession of a valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s Licence. A completion of Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be considered an asset. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
