Corporate Services Jobs
Lac Ste. Anne County is seeking a qualified Human Resources professional to join the Corporate Services Team.
Reporting to the General Manager of Corporate Services, this position provides strategic consultation to the Senior Leadership Team on a wide range of Human Resources programs including employee relations, recruitment and selection, performance management, organizational design, change management, learning and development, legislative compliance, and workplace wellbeing.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
The successful incumbent will hold responsibility for the following essential functions (but not limited to):
- Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs.
- Contributes to the strategic direction by developing, implementing, and evaluating corporate-wide HR policies, procedures, systems, and initiatives.
- Support leadership through advisory services regarding corporate policies and procedures, employee relations, performance management, recruitment and selection, disability management, training, and development.
- Develop corporate training and development initiatives to support strategic goals and succession planning.
- Oversee the employee complaint management process resolving employment issues, overseeing disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as required.
- Oversee the performance management process, provide support where required and work with management team as it relates to performance rewards or improvements for employees as required.
- Support onboarding by establishing and coordinating orientation processes and identifying training programs.
- Ensure legal compliance on HR matters by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and provincial requirements
- Analyze trends/metrics to identify problems & develop relevant HR solutions, programs/policies
- Ensure that short- and long-term illness claims, and modified work arrangements are handled appropriately and respectfully in a timely manner.
- Develop and supports initiatives to enhance employee relations.
- Work with Management to maintain current job descriptions
- Cultivate professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Work proactively to build strong relationships with leadership and employees throughout the County with a focus on building rapport and credibility.
- Maintain personnel files.
- Lead recruitment and selection processes for vacant County positions.
- Support effective labour relations by maintaining a positive working relationship with the CUPE Local.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in Human Resources
- Alberta Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation or equivalent would be an asset.
- Experience working with a unionized workforce would be an asset
Skills and Attributes
- 3 to 5 years of work experience in the Human Resource field with proven experience working at senior levels.
- Experience working in larger organizations managing the Human Resources for 100+ staff is preferred.
- Experience in municipalities and Municipal Government Act.
- Experience with Human Resource software is an asset.
- Thorough working knowledge of the Alberta Employment Standards Code. Alberta Human Rights legislation, and HR and H&S best practices.
- Ability to understand and advise on Human Resources processes, policies, ad procedure and compliance efforts and deliver effective solutions.
- Superior relationship skills and consulting skills with ability to influence change.
- High business acumen and strong analytical skills.
- Exceptional communication skills and adapting communication styles, effective listening, and excellent writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and use high levels of diplomacy and tact.
- Skilled in conflict management.
- Competent with MS Office suite, social media, research methodologies, and database programs.
- Ability to navigate between strategy and implementation and execution.
Work Environment
- This position works from the Lac Ste. Anne County Administration Building. Remote working arrangements will not be considered.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm, based on 35 hours per week; overtime availability required.

Salary: $67,000 to $86,000 commensurate with experience
