Description
The Marketing & Communications Division has a unique opportunity for an auxiliary Graphic Designer with a passion for photography and archiving. Working within the design team of the Corporate Marketing and Communications Division, you’ll work part time learning the City brands and supporting graphic design projects while spending devoted time helping organize and catalogue the City’s extensive photo library.

We are looking for an energetic, organized and detail-oriented individual that also has a strong photography, typography, design, and branding expertise. You should have a passion for organization, have good judgement and be comfortable working independently within a newly established archiving system.

Responsibilities

A major part of the job responsibility will be to take on the primary role of organizing and tagging photos for the City’s master photo library. Secondarily, the graphic design project work will include layout, design, and production of a wide variety of marketing materials such as brochures, ads, digital assets, booklets, posters, flyers, invitations, signage, and other marketing collateral. The city has a complex and dynamic design system with many opportunities for a designer to grow and learn and apply or enhance their skills within an established team supporting various campaigns and brand identities.

Requirements
  • Completion of grade 12 plus a post-secondary education from a recognized graphic design institute.
  • 2-3 years of graphic design experience.
  • Intermediate PC based computer skills, including In Design, Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop and SharePoint.
  • Experience and expertise with photography including experience with shooting, editing and organizing photo libraries is an asset.
  • Valid BC driver’s license.
