This is an exciting opportunity to begin your municipal career! Our Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department are looking for Labourers to work seasonally in the Parks Maintenance division on a temporary full-time basis. This opportunity offers full-time hours with the possibility of re-call in the following year. Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not restricted to:
• Grass Cutting
• Sodding
• Leaf Raking
• Litter Pick-Up
• Construction
• Fence Construction and Maintenance

• Field Maintenance
• Irrigation
• Parking Lot Clean-Up
• Trail Repair
• Other related duties as required

Requirements

The position requires knowledge and skill in the methods, tools and equipment, techniques, and materials used in general construction, landscaping and maintenance work. Related education, as well as, landscaping and grounds maintenance experience are considered assets; hands-on experience with related tools and equipment is preferred. As this position involves continuous heavy physical work in all weather conditions, sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination are required. Other desired attributes include safe work practices, excellent teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively, particularly when dealing with the public. Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia, Class 5, is required.

Salary & Benefits

Hourly wage: $29.40 plus benefits (2021 Rates).
