The SLRD is seeking an experienced, collaborative and influential leader to fill the regular full-time position of Director of Protective Services. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Protective Services is responsible for leading the operational and strategic development of public safety initiatives across the four electoral areas of the regional district, and is the senior liaison with public safety agency management staff including the RCMP, BCEHS, Canadian Red Cross and E-Comm 911. • Emergency Program management,
• Fire Services administration,
• 9-1-1 contract services,
• Special event facilitation and permitting, and
• Climate action, disaster risk reduction and resilience (planning and policy development).

This position has an on-call duty officer component for emergency response, and requires some work outside of regular office hours, including emergency operations centre work, and attending events such as community meetings which may occur in the evening or weekends. This position is based within the regional district, with remote work arrangements available.
