SCOPE

The City of Surrey provides exciting opportunities and challenges in an active and energetic environment and is looking for enthusiastic Lead Early Childhood Educators. The City of Surrey follows a responsive curriculum approach and is committed to ensuring that every child in our program has a positive and safe experience. The Early Childhood Educator will be responsible for observing and documenting the children’s play. They will be responsible for creating a responsive curriculum allowing the children the opportunity to explore their ideas, interests and engage with others. The educator will also support individual child’s learning styles, building a positive sense of self image and belonging.

Union - CUPE Local 402 – Regular Part-Time

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide a creative, enriched, responsive, play-based learning environment.
• Be responsible for organizing and maintaining a stimulating environment that builds all areas of child development, including self-esteem, creative problem solving, collaboration, emergent literacy and numeracy.
• Provide parent education, support, connections with schools, families and sharing community resources.
• Develop activities that are important to the various stages of child development, including, art, literacy, fine/gross motor skills, and constructive play.
• Be culturally sensitive, collaborative, resourceful and knowledgeable of community services in Surrey.

Requirements

• Early Childhood Education Certificate with License to Practice Certificate from an approved early childhood education training institute.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in teaching.
• Early Childhood Education Certificate with License to Practice Certificate.
• First Aid Certificate and CPR C with AED.
• Valid BC Drivers License with safe driving record.
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Have basic computer skills.
