Scope

This is an advanced level of professional work related to the planning, coordination, and delivery of a full range of park programming, community building, and community engagement relating to the City of Surrey’s “Park Partnerships” program.

Employment Status

Union - CUPE Local 402 – Regular Full Time

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include: preparing and monitoring annual work plans, applications for grants, sponsorships, and donations, budgets, leading volunteer and community engagement projects, reviewing park related community based events, and; working effectively with a variety of community stakeholders, agencies, and volunteer groups that support the City of Surrey’s “Park Partnerships” program.

Other duties include:

•  Conducts presentations in schools and for community groups and volunteer associations.
•  Supervising staff, volunteers and contractors as well as assisting in recruitment and training.
•  Organizing and facilitating stakeholder meetings; resolving issues in consultation with the community, government agencies, and non-government organizations.
•  Preparing and presenting reports to Advisory Committees and management.
•  Participating on integrated service teams and committees in the delivery of department and corporate programs and initiatives.
•  Initiates partnerships with community groups for the development, promotion and delivery of community programs and initiatives.
•  Prepares, educational, promotional, and marketing materials relating to the “Park Partnerships” program.

Requirements

Abilities and Skills:

•  Superior public relations and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment and initiative while performing the duties of the position.
•  Establishes and maintains effective working relationships.
•  Strong oral and written communications skills, team leadership and training skills.
•  Demonstrated program planning and evaluation skills.
•  Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Graduation from a recognized university, college or technical institute with five years related experience or graduation from a recognized vocational school complete with a trade qualification and a combination of knowledge and experience. You must hold a Valid B.C. Driver’s License and be able to successfully pass a Criminal Record Check.
