The Town of Morinville is seeking a Youth Programmer to join the Community Services team on a temporary part-time (0.8 FTE) basis and has an anticipated start date of February 14, 2022, and will end on or before March 3, 2023, based on operational requirements.
Reporting to the Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) Program Coordinator, the Youth Programmer is responsible for developing and promoting social service programs for our youth population. These services will enhance the quality of life for youth through safe program spaces, education, information, volunteer opportunities and development of youth leaders. The services provided fall under the Family and Community Support Service Association of Alberta guidelines and policies
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop a safe environment within the Youth Centre.
- Manage and develop the youth leadership program; scheduling of youth leaders work-shifts and programming activities.
- Create opportunities for youth to volunteer and be active in their community, make presentations to council as necessary on youth issues and develop intergenerational programming.
- Coordinate the annual Youth Week using multiple community partnerships.
- Plan and implement programming and monitor program budgets; maintain monthly and quarterly approved expenses.
- Network and communicate with regional and government partners in the area of youth.
- Increase awareness of social issues through presentations, community displays, workshops and seminars.
- Provide accurate program content for the municipal community guide 3 times a year.
- Ensure requests to Communication are provided with accurate timely information for program promotion and content on town website.
- Conduct seasonal program evaluations and surveys to ensure program are meeting the outcomes.
- Hire, orientate, train and evaluate youth leaders and seasonal summer camp leaders.
Requirements:
- Post‐secondary education in a Human Services/Youth Work program (Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered).
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth in a community environment.
- Experience in development and management of a program budget.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Valid First Aid Certificate and CPR Training.
- Suicide Prevention Certification (preferred).
- The successful candidate will be required to provide an acceptable Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check and Driver’s Abstract.
Rate of Pay/Hours of Work: Hourly wage rate is $29.63 — $35.38 per hour (7 Step Grid). Hours of work are based on Part-Time (0.8FTE), 28 hours per week, which are scheduled to meet operational requirements.

Proof of vaccination provided by Alberta Health Services will be required as a condition of offer. Exemptions may be considered, however, they will need to be reviewed and validated by the Town before commencing work. Those with approved exemptions will still be required to submit negative test results (valid within 72hrs) before entering a Town worksite.
