Reporting to the Recreation Office Supervisor, this position involves constant contact with the general public and community groups in the operation of a high volume cash handling and customer service desk. Duties include answering enquiries regarding facilities, recreation programs, rules and regulations, services and special events, handling complaints, processing payments, compiling, updating and maintaining office records, operating electronic cash register, and other office equipment. The Recreation Clerk 1 may type correspondence and forms, and file documents and reports. Performs related work as required.
Hours and shifts are dependent on operational requirements and scheduled by each facility on an as needed basis. Our team is currently looking for individuals who can work many different shifts per week on an on-call basis with the potential to work up to 5 days a week depending on availability and operational requirements. As the centres are open as early as 5:30 AM and close as late as 11:00 PM, so please outline your availability to work shifts.

Qualifications include: completion of Grade 12, including or supplemented by commercial and word processing courses, typing (30 wpm minimum), plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in cash handling including cash registers, POS, deposits, daily cash balance reports is desirable, and working knowledge of CLASS computerized registration system is an asset. Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public and to work as part of a staff team. Sound knowledge of department facilities and programs is required. Ability to exercise initiative and make decisions in accordance with applicable guidelines and policies.
Hourly wage: $22.48 + 12% in lieu of benefits (2019 Rates)
