The Opportunity
Working with the Manager, Organizational Performance and Strategy, this position supports the advancement of corporate frameworks and/or leads corporate-wide projects supporting same, including but not limited to strategic planning, continuous improvement and innovation, organizational development, and public engagement.

Accountabilities
o Develop strategies and plans and provide expertise and supports for City projects
o Provide expertise to the development and monitoring of the corporate strategic plan, annual action plan and departmental business plans.
o Plan, research and prepare reports, presentations, proposals and briefing notes as required on a variety of issues and projects.
o Provide support, advice, monitoring and guidance to various committees aligned with strategies and frameworks.
o Facilitate partnership opportunities among stakeholders (internally and externally) to advance frameworks or strategies, and/or support organizational performance initiatives.
o Provide expertise and facilitation of the City’s citizen and employee focused surveys and the City’s policy development.
o Support the City’s public engagement policy and framework through advice and project support using public engagement tools and methodology
o Manage the City’s public engagement website, engagestjohns.ca, including development of content, liaison with project leads and vendor, running reports and making recommendations.
o Support the development, sourcing and delivery of required training that advances strategy and frameworks.
o Undertake and/or support corporate continuous improvement projects
o Undertake process design, facilitation, needs assessment, planning, analytics and evaluation as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications
Education: Undergraduate degree in business/commerce, public administration or related field.

Assets: Certification in Continuous Improvement; International Association of Public Participation Foundations and Techniques training.

Experience: Five to seven years of experience in progressively responsible roles in fields related to the position where the types of experience in the following arears would have been:
o Experience in continuous improvement including facilitating root cause analysis, data collection and analytics.
o Experience in stakeholder analysis and public engagement tools and methodologies
o Leading project teams, process design, facilitation and report writing.
o Conducting jurisdictional scans and best practice reviews.
o Developing, monitoring and reporting on plans and strategies at a corporate level.
o Implementing and supporting systems and tools that support organizational performance.
o Providing advice and guidance on frameworks, strategies and plans.
o Delivering training.

Salary & Benefits

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

This position is set at Grade 4 of the Management Pay Plan with a salary range of $77,587 - $100,111.
