Servus Sports Centre, Bud Miller All Seasons Park, Bioclean Aquatic Centre & Lloydminster Cultural & Science Centre

Duties

The Activity Leaders are responsible for planning, promoting and organizing the Summer Fun activities for children and youth of all ages and abilities. Essential duties include:

  • Planning and presenting activities at City operated parks and playgrounds.
  • Being a positive and enthusiastic role model, interacting with children to enhance their Summer Fun experience.
  • Promoting all activities and events as well as encouraging and motivating children to participate.
  • Leading trips and carrying out meal duties.
  • Maintaining a safe, supportive environment for children to participate in Summer Fun activities.
  • Participate in the City of Lloydminster’s Safety Management System.
  • Other related duties as required.

Schedule:

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with the occasional requirement to work outside these hours for the special events of July 1, 2020 and/or August 3, 2020. 

Special Instructions:

Applicants must be attending a post-secondary program including: college or university during the last school term and returning to studies in the subsequent academic year. Verification of student status will be required.

Requirements

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

 

  • Preference will be given to candidates registered in a related field of study including: Education, Early Learning and Child Care and Early Childhood Development.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills; First Aid and CPR C would be mandatory. 
  • Prior experience working with children of all ages.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with fellow colleagues on event planning.
  • Previous experience organizing and delivering programs and special events.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a positive role model for children.
  • This position is contingent on receiving a satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector check prior to start date.  
  • Must be physically fit to participate with the program participants.
Salary & Benefits

Rate of Pay:

Summer Student Band : $16.03 per hour

(Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)
