Minimum requirements:
- Successful completion of recruit training at the Ontario Police College or another recognized police training facility;
- Successful completion of the prescribed probationary period at a recognized Canadian Police Service;
- Valid Class G Driver’s License;
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR level “C” certificate;
- Be a member in good standing with their current police service;
- Successfully meet the requirements of either the PREP or the Ontario Police Fitness Pin Award (OPFA);
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
- Be of good moral character and a person of honesty and integrity;
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to articulate clearly
The Timmins Police Service recognizes the years of previous service with a Canadian Police Service for annual vacation entitlement. Rank classification will be dependent upon the experience of the applicant and will commence no higher than a first class constable. Greater consideration will be given to candidates with a college/university education; with a history of strong work performance; who have a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement; and who are engaged in health and wellness initiatives.
The process for applicants with previous police experience includes the successful completion of each of the following phases:
- Local focus and competency based interview;
- Psychological evaluation and interview with a psychologist;
- Background investigation;
- Job offer, conditional upon a successful medical clearance
