Reporting to the Director of Transportation and Fleet Management Services, the Manager of Roads is responsible for leading the Roads division in accordance with the City’s values of Respect, Accountability and Dedication. Responsible for daily planning, coordinating year-round maintenance programs for the City’s roadway surfaces and rights-of-way in compliance with legislation, policies and documented procedures; responsible for the administration of service contracts, equipment tenders, maintenance programming of roads, budget preparation, business planning, and preparation of Council reports and recommendations.
You will be a self-motivated individual with post-secondary education in Engineering or related field, with a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation, or suitable equivalent. You will have a minimum of seven years of progressive experience in public works within an operational road environment, along with significant current knowledge of winter control activities and ability to effectively manage winter storm events and related winter operations. You are a Certified Road Supervisor, as registered with the Ontario Good Road Association. You are knowledgeable in applicable guidelines, standards, procedures and legislation such as the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Highway Traffic Act, Ontario Provincial Standards & Specifications.
