Currently, The City of Whitehorse has exciting opportunities for a Human Resources Generalist who wants to further their career in a challenging role. Current openings are for permanent, full-time staff but those seeking part-time and/or temporary work are also encouraged to apply.
As the Human Resources Generalist, you will provide human resources, employee, and labour relations support functions for various programs, services, and initiatives.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Consulting with supervisors, staff, and benefit carriers regarding human resources matters including but not limited to recruitment, labour relations, performance management, etc.)
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and partnerships with various stakeholders
- Preparing documents and maintaining confidential and accurate records, compiling statistics and preparing reports
- Collecting and analyzing information and recommending course of action
- Overseeing disability programs including facilitating return to work and accommodation
- Participating and/or providing expertise in local collective agreement bargaining
- Providing input into relevant programs, policies, and procedures
- Acting as Team Leader, Human Resources as assigned
In order to qualify for this role, you will have a Diploma in Human Resources or Business Administration including compensation and benefits administration with a minimum of 3 - 5 of years related experience, preferably in a unionized environment dealing with various employment contracts. Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration and CPHR designation would be considered as an asset. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
For this role, it is imperative that you have strong interpersonal, change management, and conflict resolution skills. Similarly, strong multi-tasking abilities, analytical skills, and attention to detail are essential. Comfortable with ambiguity, you must have strong communication skills and bring a positive attitude to everything you do.
