Scope
City Council has set ambitious goals to ensure we continue to build a thriving, green, inclusive city. The Director, Strategic Initiatives, undertakes strategic planning, delivers project coordination, ensures corporate reporting to the highest standard, and coordinates implementation supporting key City initiatives for the Office of the City Manager, independently and in partnership with the Senior Management Team (SMT).
Responsibilities

Leads the development and execution of strategic initiatives, including, developing plans and deliverables, identifying opportunities, securing funding, responding to resource needs, reporting on the process/progress, and providing resolution on issues where appropriate;

Develops, coordinates and integrates corporate reporting tools, metrics, and reports;

Scopes and develops strategies for special projects and initiatives, including developing and implementing strategic plans and long-range strategic objectives, in alignment with Council’s Vision.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field. A post-graduate degree is preferred;

A minimum of 10 years’ related work experience;

Comprehensive knowledge of a job-related functional area (e.g. Engineering, Business, Project Management, or Planning);

Knowledge of the municipal sector.
