Other duties include checking plumbing plans, reviewing site services, observing tests of plumbing systems and inspections of all types of plumbing installations for conformance with by-laws, regulations, codes and the approved plumbing permit drawings. Provides technical advice, assistance, interpretation and information to the general public, owners, contractors, engineers and architects on matters related to the work.
The successful candidate will have completion of Grade 12 and an apprenticeship in the plumbing trade. A minimum three years’ experience as a Journeyman Plumber or plumbing contractor or an equivalent combination of training and experience is also required. This position requires effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey information to the public, professionals and other staff and advanced knowledge of related by-laws, codes and regulations.
Certification of Qualification for the Province of BC as a plumber or equivalent and technical achievement of the Level 1 Certificate from the Plumbing Officials’ Association of BC and a Cross Connection Tester’s Certificate as well as a valid BC Driver’s License is required.
