TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST

Responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the City’s information technology infrastructure by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all information technology and telecommunications infrastructure components. Applying proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefits of IT infrastructure investments. Utilizing technical knowledge and expertise to ensure effective and efficient support of the City’s information technology infrastructure.
Qualifications and experience:

Community College Diploma in Computer Science or suitable equivalent.

Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in technical support of complex and diverse computer environments and possesses project management knowledge of implementing technology solutions.

A certificate in Network Administration, Database Administration and formal designation such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or equivalent.

Expert knowledge of IT infrastructure, including network architectures, operating systems environments, server and storage architectures, security frameworks, data base management systems, communications protocols, middleware and desktop computing environments.

Superior customer service skills including working collaboratively with staff members, agencies and external contacts.

Well-developed interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills.

High levels of ability to think and act in a proactive and strategic manner.

Ability to exercise sound judgment and solve problems based on consideration of all critical factors, including long and short term impacts.

Knowledge of, or demonstrated ability in, the City’s core competencies.
-
Must be prepared to work flexible hours to undertake tasks that cannot be completed during the normal working hours, as may be required.
