Responsible for:
Responsible for performing mechanical servicing on City owned equipment and vehicles including monitoring of preventive maintenance, inspection and repairs. Maintains and records associated paperwork, liaises with staff and supervisors regarding equipment status and maintenance of inventory required and orders/purchases parts for equipment under repair as needed. Provides training and assistance to operators in the routine day to day maintenance and operation of equipment, as required. Coordinates with City contractors the Preventative Maintenance Program scheduling and equipment repairs.
Qualifications and experience:
Secondary School Diploma or suitable equivalent. Possess a current Ontario Ministry of Education and Training Certificate (license) of Qualification in Truck and Coach Technician and Automotive Service Technician, with Diesel Endorsement. Possess a current Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario Ministry of Technical Standards in ICE P and ICE NG. Working knowledge of pesticides, including handling and disposal procedures and control. Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of small to heavy equipment components; including electrical diagnosis, hydraulics, modern braking, steering, suspension, engines (i.e. diesels two and four stroke, gasoline and alternate fuels) and welding. Must hold a valid class “DZ” drivers licence. Demonstrated ability in arc and gas welding for repairs and fabrication.
