BUILDING PROJECTS MECHANIC (TEMPORARY), Posting #106-11-15

This union position, under the general direction of the Director of Parks, Recreation and Property Management and the technical guidance and direction of the Lead Hand - Building Maintenance, performs preventative maintenance activities for HVAC systems and assists with daily maintenance repairs of Municipal building assets as required. This position provides support to the coordination and project management of building engineering projects, asset rehabilitation and renewal of the City’s existing facility infrastructure and the coordination of Building contracts.

Requirements

Educational Qualifications and Experience:  Must have 2 - 3 years experience in the area of HVAC systems along with Facilities/Building Construction and Maintenance accompanied with completion of a two (2) year Community College Diploma in a related field.  Must have proven experience and expertise in the management of building renovation contracts and new building projects.  A Certificate of Qualification of a HVAC trade would be considered an asset.  Must be capable of preparing, reading and utilizing construction diagrams and drawings.  Level I or II AutoCad would be considered an asset.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must be able to work well in a team environment and shall possess a high level of oral and written communication skills.  Must have First-aid/CPR Certification and Confined Space certification. Thorough knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act is required.

Salary & Benefits

Remuneration Range:  $26.85 - $33.54 per hour working forty (40) hours per week.
