WATER CUSTOMER SERVICES LEAD HAND

Environmental Services Department

 

The Water Customer Services Lead Hand position is responsible for coordinating, prioritizing and participating in the daily operational and maintenance tasks of the Water Customer Services Section of the Water Operations Branch, which includes overseeing the Water Meter/Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Program, Infrastructure Damage Prevention Program, Customer Care Program, and the Bulk Water Provision Program.  This position receives, investigates and prioritizes the resolution of inquires, complaints and service requests related to the City’s Water Customer Services Section.  Additionally, this position ensures that the Section is compliant with Branch policies and procedures, and provincial regulations and guidelines. Overall, this position plays an integral role in ensuring that commercial and residential establishments within the City of Barrie receive the delivery of quality and efficient water services.

Requirements

Applicants must have:                                                                                              

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)

  • Two (2) year College Diploma, Civil Engineering Technician, Environmental Engineering Technician or related discipline.  A Three (3) year College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering Technology or related discipline is preferred
  • Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) Class II Certificate in Water Distribution and/or Water Distribution and Supply
  • Water Meter Installer (800A) Certificate of Apprenticeship from the Ontario College of Trades, Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities
  • Certified Cross Connection Control Specialist from the Ontario Water Works Association (OWWA)
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License in good standing

 

Experience

  • Five (5) years of demonstrated related experience as required to obtain a Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) Class II Certificate in Water Distribution/Water Distribution and Supply, including demonstrated experience locating buried utility infrastructure and two (2) years of experience in a leadership role (four (4) years of experience in a leadership role is preferred)

 

Knowledge/Skill/Ability

  • Medical documentation to confirm medically fit to wear a respirator
  • Working knowledge of all of the applicable legislation
  •  Excellent working knowledge of municipal water systems and water metering systems
  • Computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word), Internet Explorer, Autocad, GIS systems, and locate ticket management software.
  • Proven record keeping abilities
  • Proven interpersonal, time management, prioritization, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent project/program management skills

 

Salary & Benefits

The 2014 pay range (under review) is $69,638 to $83,470 per year ($33.48/hr to $40.13/hr).   The hours of work will be 40 hours/week.   For full details regarding this position, please visit our website at www.barrie.ca.
