PERFORMANCE ANALYST

 Finance Department

 

The Performance Analyst (PA) acts as the primary day-to-day Finance resource for an assigned portfolio of operating departments.  The individual in this role may be embedded in a business area away from the Finance team to better serve their assigned portfolio.  The PA provides fundamental business planning, analytical, and financial advisory support services to the management team responsible for delivering City programs and services within the assigned portfolio and plays a key role ensuring the City’s financial policies and processes are applied consistently.  The PA will work in close collaboration with their portfolio’s departmental management teams but reports to the Deputy Treasurer.

Key Qualifications (under review):

 

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)

  • Successful completion of a University Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics or a related field,
  • Advanced standing in the completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA - CMA, CPA - CGA, CPA – CA).   Successful completion and a member in good standing of a professional accounting designation is preferred.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of progressive experience in accounting/financial analysis in a municipal environment.

 

Knowledge/Skill/Ability

  • Working knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Board Standards and Principles,
  • Experience in designing and using the Key Performance Indicators in a public sector environment, along with a working knowledge of the Municipal Performance Measurement Program (MPMP),
  • Experience in a computerized financial environment with a strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (specifically Excel),
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, communication, planning, and project management skills,
  • Ability to interact effectively and courteously with all levels of staff,
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required,
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
Salary & Benefits

The 2014 salary range is $71,999 to $87,542 per year ($39.56/hr to $48.10/hr).
