SUPERVISOR, CORPORATE SECURITY

Reporting to the Director of Buildings and Facilities, the Supervisor of Corporate Security oversees all aspects of security for City of Vaughan facilities. Oversees security contracts, provides direction and coordination of the response of contract security services and/or facility staff for incidents that occur at City facilities or on municipal property. Develops implements and maintains standard operating procedures for security operations. Collaborates with and assists other departments on all security matters, responds to inquiries from the public and prepared reports and records as required.
- Degree or equivalent in an area of study relevant to the position with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in security or related public sector organizations, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge in general business management principles including financial management, including budget and contract administration; procurement, etc.
- Ability to work well under pressure and enforce safety / security regulations.
- Excellent oral / written communication skills, interpersonal, and public relations skills, coupled with effective analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other public sector organizations.
- Demonstrated experience with report and/or policy and procedure writing.
- Ability to conduct oneself in a manner bestowing tact and diplomacy within a political environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in planning, prioritizing and organizing complex workload for self and others (including contractors) amongst multiple conflicting priorities.
- Strong service delivery and customer service skills.
- Well-developed skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations in order to meet competent supervisor requirements; the Ontario Fire Act, etc.
- Possession of, or willingness to obtain a valid Ontario Security Guard’s license an asset.
- Knowledge of, and demonstrated ability in, the city’s core competencies and relevant functional competencies.
- Valid Class "G" Ontario Driver’s License in good standing and a reliable vehicle for corporate use.
- Availability to work irregular hours including weekends and respond to ‘after hours’ emergencies as required.
