TECHNOLOGY ANALYST

TEMPORARY - 1 Year Approximately

IT  DEPARTMENT

 

The Technology Analyst position is the information technology support pillar for the City of Barrie.  This position works to ensure that technology infrastructure hardware and systems are working properly and to support first-line support staff. They plan and architect the infrastructure that is required for the City to operate.  This position may provide input into technology purchasing decisions and participate on project teams and committees as required.   Ultimately this position exists to ensure staff have working technology and quality training in order to allow them to do their own jobs effectively

Requirements

Applicants must have:                                                                                              

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)

  • Four (4) Year university degree in Computer Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • Possession of network or information technology based certification, such as Cisco or Microsoft certification or equivalent.
  • VM Ware and Checkpoint certification are recommended.

 

 

Experience

  • Five (5) Years of closely related work experience (preference is for eight (8) years of related work experience) installing, configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting computer network technology including wireless communications protocols, Windows servers, routers, data switches, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, WINS, and other networking protocols.
  • Must be proficient with Windows Desktop OS (XP, Vista, etc.), Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and achieving desired performance outcomes while maintaining a positive working relationship.

 

Knowledge/Skill/Ability

  • Proficiency in the use of Windows desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft Office products including Project and Visio.  Must have a good working knowledge of Exchange Server, SQL Server, Backup-Exec, and Red Hat Linux
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, time management, training, oral and written communications skills, working knowledge of project management fundamentals and ITIL.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office software products associated with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software, and the Internet.

 

 

 

 

 

Salary & Benefits

The 2014 pay range is $65,265 to $78,169 per year ($35.86/hr to $42.95/hr).
