for an experienced and motivated individual

SENIOR BUSINESS CONSULTANT/MANAGER OF VBEC
(FILE 13-1550-MBX)

Responsible for: Managing the day-to-day management of the Vaughan Business Enterprise Centre (VBEC), including overseeing office staff, project coordination, customer service and administrative functions/services. Developing, implementing and evaluating VBEC programs and initiatives including marketing and media relations. Researching, developing, coordinating, implementing and managing all proposals and projects for the various programs and services of VBEC and its initiatives. Maintaining awareness of new trends in entrepreneurship and business. Liaising with business clients, community leaders, government offices and agencies, academic institutions, entrepreneurship centres and other organizations as required to create valid partnerships for VBEC. Responsible for fundraising through corporate sponsorship for VBEC. Assisting and encouraging the establishment, retention and expansion of new and existing small businesses.
 

Requirements

Qualifications and experience:

  • University Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, Economic Development or related field, or suitable equivalent, preferably with emphasis in small business or entrepreneurial studies
  • A minimum of 5 years management experience related to business and entrepreneurial development 
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and written/oral communication skills
  • Experience in market analysis, public relations, financial planning/forecasting, budget and business plan preparation and analysis, with a strong understanding of the government programs and services, rules and regulations for starting a small business
  • Proficient computer skills preferably Microsoft Office, including Powerpoint
